Install and Set Up the eSureIT Software

After you sign up for an eSureIT online backup service account, download and install the software onto your computer or your server. Choose a unique encryption key which will secure all of your data. Be sure to print and store this key in a location other than where your computer or server resides. Create a backup set Select the files you wish to back up and set a schedule to run the backups – your list of files and associated schedule is called a “backup set."

Data backups run automatically

After your initial backup, as long as your computer is online and functioning, backups will automatically run according to the schedule you have chosen. You can also manually perform a backup at any time.

eSureIt scans for new or modified data

When a backup begins, your hard drive is scanned for any new or modified files since your last backup. Only these files will be transmitted, minimizing the backup time as well as your valuable bandwidth.

Backed up data is compressed

Once the backup files are identified, they are compressed using advanced compression technology. File compression ensures faster backups and less storage space you need to purchase on our servers.

Backed up data is encrypted

After being compressed, each data file is individually encrypted using your unique 256 bit encryption key for data security. Only you have access to this key – it is never transmitted or stored anywhere on our servers. Backed up data is securely transmitted Following encryption, your data is sent over the Internet via a secure channel using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, the same Internet transmission technology used for online banking.

The data is remotely stored in Tier 4 data centers

Your data will be stored and protected in two secure data centers, located hundreds of miles apart from each other. Each facility has 24/7 monitoring, advanced security technology such as biometric access controls, backup generators and redundant connections to the Internet.

Recover any or all of your files

For individual files, login to your eSureIT account, click on the file or folder you wish to retrieve and it will be restored to your hard drive. If you experience a major data loss, you can perform a full file restoration and retrieve all of your backed up data. Simply install the eSureIT software on any Windows-based computer and use your encryption key to access and recover your files.
